Marcus and Ginny are revealed to have a relationship throughout the series, although they never date. Ginny and Marcus actually sleep together towards the beginning of the book, and Ginny is shunned by her friends after Marcus' twin (and Ginny's best friend) Max discovers it at the conclusion. However, this relationship only lasts until Max gets into some trouble at school, at which point Ginny breaks up with him.
Several years later, in 1991, Max goes to live with Ginny and her family in Colorado for several months while his father recovers from serious injuries sustained in Iraq. During his stay, it is revealed that Marcus is also living in Colorado under the name "Michael Green". The two meet up again by chance and fall back in love with each other once more. This time, however, there is no shunning from anyone involved as both families support their children's relationships with one another. In fact, Ginny's mother even helps set up the couple for marriage.
Just over a year after this marriage proposal, on September 4, 1992, at a wedding party held at Hogwarts, Ginny's cousin Fred Weasley gives her away when she becomes pregnant with his child. The couple names their son Henry Frederick Potter.
In 1994, when Harry turns 11 years old, he receives an owl from Hogwarts telling him that due to the recent death of his parents, he has been invited to attend the next summer at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
